can anyone explain to me how video analytics work?? i purchased some ip cams and i was told the newest and latest recording software is video analytics. i would like to learn what video analytics are, how they work and where to get a cheap yet reliable video analytics software.

The software runs on a bunch of algorithms that I can tell that watch the pixel changes of the video. It can then tell the shape of the object (for object recognition) or where the object is moving (motion tracking).
From what I have been reading, there are also add-ons which are available for some video analytics software that allows you to trigger specialized alerts for integrated security access points.
What were you looking to learn exactly?

Grosso modo, it substracts background image and recognizes blurs called vectors. This is how it make up the difference between a dog and a humand. Like the previous person said, it's pixel changes.... see this link for more info
