New Axis Communications Thermal Network Cameras

Axis Communications

Axis Communications has recently announced two new IP camera devices that are the first full featured network cameras to include Thermal Imaging. Thermal imaging will allow for persons and objects to be detected with great reliability in complete darkness and in environments that may include smoke, haze, dust or light fog. Thermal imaging has existed with specific analog surveillance cameras for some time but these products have always been geared towards high-end installations with a higher price point then most people are willing to accept.

The Axis Q1910 and Axis Q1910-E are the first full featured network camera devices to include thermal imaging. Both the Axis Q1910 and Axis Q1910-E have the capability of producing images based on heat that will radiate from objects, vehicles or persons. This will provide users with added viewing capabilities in environments that are in complete darkness and in environments that may hold harsh weather conditions.

Axis Communications Press Release Excerpt:

"Today's launch provides our customers with cost-efficient, easy-to-install thermal network cameras for professional installations and will promote safety and security in critical areas such as public places, industries, railways, ports and roads. We see a great potential for these new cameras and we are proud to be able to broaden our portfolio and thereby contribute to strengthening our customers' security systems", says Ray Mauritsson, President, Axis Communications.
